JRI Orthopaedics

JRI Orthopaedics was formed in 1970 by orthopaedic surgeon Sir Ronald Furlong to introduce the Müller cemented hip to the UK market and, in 1977, manufacturing of hip implants and instrumentation was established in Sheffield.

From the start, JRI has been committed to bringing the best people to deliver the best solutions in joint reconstruction, repair and regeneration.

In 1985, JRI became the first company to produce a hip implant with a Hydroxyapatite coating enabling a biological bond with the patient’s bone and so the prospect of a hip for life.

The Furlong H-A.C coated hip stem was a significant innovation in joint replacement. Since its first implantation, over 250,000 patients have benefited from this technology and, to this day, it has possibly the lowest revision rate at 10 years recorded on the National Joint Registry (NJR).

Today JRI is more than just a hip company – although they offer a complete portfolio of implants and instrumentation providing a variety of solutions from primary through to complex revision.

They also distribute products for shoulder and knee arthroplasty, offer custom prosthesis and a range of orthobiologics. For more information please visit the relevant product pages.

Until March, 2018, JRI was owned by the charitable organisation Orthopeadic Research UK and gift aid donated over £12 million to help fund world-class orthopaedic research.

JRI Orthopaedics is now part of AK Medical, China’s leading domestic joint replacement company and one of the world’s largest 3D-printed orthopaedic implant manufacturers: http://www.ak-medical.net/en/?route=about_1

JRI and AK Medical brands continue but the combination of the two businesses is creating a larger and stronger Group within the international orthopaedic sector and opening up opportunities that will benefit millions of patients worldwide.

They have internationally recognised research and development capabilities at our state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Sheffield and this expertise will be developed further by the new Group with the creation of a global R&D centre in the UK.

Many companies, who profess an ability to help with your recruitment processes, will cite their large, high quality network of industry specific contacts as a reason for their differentiation from competitors.

Ultimately however, for all the size and supposed qualities of respective networks, the only relevant detail for a hiring company is how that network translates into a successful employee joining them.

At Guided Solutions we embrace technology to maintain industry links, we understand however, that a network that delivers unique results has its roots in traditional relationship building and the insights these connections yield.
